Why Choose AEMC® Instruments Non-Contact High Voltage Detector?

Your safety is our concern. We know it’s critical for you to have the ability to save lives by safely detecting high voltages. That’s why we offer our non-contact High Voltage Detector model 275HVD. The Model 275HVD detects the presence of voltages from 80V up to 275kV without physical contact. The detector instrument can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Reliable Safety Sensor Indicators

Our instrument offers a self-test function that works through an actual sensing circuit, it does not just turn on a light and buzzer.

As the sensor is moved closer to the voltage carrying conductor, its sensor head picks up the radiated electric field. Once the threshold is reached, a loud buzzer sounds and a bright red LED voltage indicator light that is visible from a long distance, alerts the operator of live conductors. A self-test feature ensures all circuitry and annunciators are working properly.

Hot Stick Attachment

A universal spline on the instruments back facilitates attachment to any standard hot stick. Our durable handle will not come loose at the end of the hot stick when flexed.

Features

  • Works on unshielded cables only
  • Wide range of detection; finds 80V to 275kV; one instrument fits all applications
  • Eight switch selectable voltage sensitivity ranges
  • Lightweight, minimizes sway at the end of long hot sticks
  • Audible and visual indication of live voltage
  • Self-test position ensures that all system functions and indicators are working properly by energizing the complete system
  • Designed for use with hot sticks incorporating a shotgun adapter
  • Powered by three standard Alkaline C cell batteries

Testing high voltage systems can be dangerous if not done properly and carefully, so it is essential to follow safety precautions and guidelines. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves, boots, goggles, and earplugs. Suitable testing equipment should also be used, such as high voltage probes, meters, generators, and relays. Additionally, the high voltage system should be isolated and de-energized before testing and verified for the absence of voltage using a voltage detector. It is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and specifications for testing and maintenance of the high voltage system. Furthermore, one should avoid touching or approaching any exposed or live parts of the high voltage system during testing. Keeping a safe distance and using barriers or shields to protect oneself and others from potential arcs or sparks is also necessary. Lastly, monitoring the test results is essential, and the test should be stopped immediately if any abnormality or anomaly is detected.
