Seiko was started in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori, in Tokyo. The firm was initially a watch and jewellery shop, but quickly transitioned into one of the largest, most innovative, and most independent watchmakers in the world. One of just a handful of brands who oversee every single step of the design, manufacturing, and assembly of their pieces. This company also brought the first quartz movement watch into the world, which would eventually have huge repercussions for the industry.
